Prisho Kalamkarrie — Indian art and the bold spirit of African tribal design, on satin silk.

Prisho is a Kolkata design house known for fluid, modern Indian occasion wear — drape skirt sets, kaftan pants sets, organza lehengas and concept sarees, cut in satin, silk, organza and tissue. Its pieces sit between tradition and indo-western: recognisably Indian in colour and craft, but clean and contemporary in line.

Its newest collection, Kalamkarrie, takes that further. Inspired by the bold spirit of African tribal art meeting Indian kalamkari, each piece is digitally printed and then hand-embroidered on satin silk. Who Is Prisho?

Prisho is an Indian designer label based in Kolkata, making occasion wear for weddings and festive functions. The house is best known for its drape skirt sets with capes, gilets and corsets; its relaxed kaftan pants sets; and its organza lehengas — silhouettes that give the wearer the presence of formal Indian dress with the ease of something far lighter. Colour is central to the label, and red is its signature.

Introducing Kalamkarrie

Kalamkari is a traditional Indian textile art — the name comes from kalam, the pen once used to hand-draw its flowing motifs. Prisho's Kalamkarrie collection reinterprets that heritage through a new lens: the graphic, bold spirit of African tribal design. The prints are applied digitally, then finished by hand with embroidery, so every piece carries both a modern sharpness and the texture of handwork. The base cloth is satin silk, chosen for its fluid drape and the way it holds colour.
